SCOTUS Stands with Victims of Iranian Terror

Statement

Date: April 20, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Earlier today the United States Supreme Court ruled 6-2 in favor of victims of Iranian terrorism seeking restitution from the Islamic Republic's frozen assets in New York. U.S Representative Peter J. Roskam issued the following statement:

"I'm glad to see the Supreme Court stand up for victims of Iranian terrorism and affirm the rights of the legislative branch. Though no amount of restitution will bring back their loved ones, I hope today's ruling will send a clear message to the Mullahs: Iran may do business with the United States or it may sponsor radical Islamic terrorism -- but it may not do both."

In December, Rep. Roskam circulated a Dear Colleague letter urging Members of Congress to sign onto an Amicus Brief in favor of the victims. Iran remains the world's largest state-sponsor of terrorism.
